Holiday Cottage Scotland

Holiday Cottages in Scotland

This charming holiday cottage dates back to the 15th century. A former Drover’s Cottate which is set within the peaceful tranquillity of the Pentlands Regional Park, yet only a short train journey, or 30 minutes’ drive, from the hustle and bustle of historic Edinburgh.

This delightful self catering cottage in Scotland has been furnished, decorated and equipped to a high standard and is situated adjacent to the owners’ home in a totally rural setting. As a self catering holiday cottage, it benefits from its own private garden with picnic table and barbeque.

Close by (200m) is Harperrig Reservoir, which is shortly to be designated a Local Nature Reserve recognising and providing protection to the unique and wild qualities of the areas which plays home to an abundance of flora and fauna. This is an idyllic location for a self catering holiday cottage striking the perfect balance of a country side location in West Lothian and yet close enough to the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh or Glasgow.

In the heart of West Lothian, Kirknewton village is just 5 miles away. Here you will find a small supermarket, pub and post office. All your other shopping requirements will be found in Livingston in West Lothian or Edinburgh in Midlothian. There is also excellent hill walking in the Pentland Hills from the doorstep in the regional park. Fly fishing, tennis, riding and golf locally. Coast at East Lothian ¾ hour drive. Pub 5 miles.

This holiday cottage Edinburgh has the best of both worlds. Close to the city of Edinburgh, closer still to the many attractions in West Lothian, but also the peace and rural tranquil of the hills and moors which are almost surprisingly, unexpected with it's proximity to a major city.
